Default Tire size --

do you guy think I would be ok to go with 205/75D over the 215/75D-14" ?
There is a pretty big difference in price (sale)

I defer to an authoritative answer from one of our tire experts, but I would not.
Tires are one item in life I would not try to change from original equipment engineering or save money on even if it was a bit painful.
What is that old Michelin commercial that asks about the value of what you have riding on your tires ?

No tire expert here either but:

I just looked at Goodyear load ratings for their tire sizes. Although both tire sizes are in load range C the st205 has a max load of 1760# and the st215 max is 1870#.

Goodyear also lists a st205 in load range D, max load 2040# but Googling for anyone that actually is selling it brings up nothing.

As Tim pointed out, you will be losing about #110 pounds per tire by downsizing from a 215 to a 205, and lose about 0.3 inches in total tire diameter (according to Carlisle tire specs sheets on Diagonal/Bias tires). This weight loss translates to #220 pounds total loss in trailer carrying capacity.

There was a good discussion on this concerning the 2720 a few years back, and you can find it at this link.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend the downsize, as we have been saying for a long time that the trailers are overloaded on the six ply rated 14 inch tires......which is why so many members are upsizing to 15 inch rim diameter tires or at least using eight ply rated 14 inch rim diameter Euro tires.(which you might also want to consider before going back with a 215/75?14 six ply rated tire)

I think you guys nailed it ! I just noticed both were load range "c" and thought they were the same. Upon further investigation after reading your replys the 205's are 1,760 lbs each while the 215's are 1,870 lbs
