Default Storage Drawer Under Couch

So, please tell me again about installing storage drawers under the couch in a 2720SL. It is a pain to lift up the seat to get at stored items, and the outside access door is so small as to be useless. Are there kits available for installing drawers in this space, or is this strictly a DIY operation? Any problems with this mod? Thanks for the help.

I haven't looked at ours lately, but I agree with you. This space is such a pain to get in to we don't use it. Seems like some sort of largish door would be better than a drawer if it didn't interfere with the couch supports. This may be my next project to investigate.

The weight of the couch is carried on the metal brackets at the ends, so supports should not be an issue. A fold-down door would work, but a drawer would make access to contents easier, I think.

Scott,

I had to come back to this post to see if you have a much bigger TM than we do. That doesn't seem to be the answer . . . Now I have to assume you just travel lighter than we do because ours is stuffed! I agree it is a pain but it is the best storage area we have for some of the junk we drag along.

We would use the under-couch space for large bulky stuff, maybe like jackets or extra blankets. We do travel pretty light as most of the junk goes in the bed of the truck. Of course, there is always the possibility they the inconvenience of the space keeps us from taking stuff unless it is REALLY needed! It is too bad TM didn't make the outside door to that space a bit larger.

Outside door . . . that would change things.

We have our propane heater, television, dvd player, vacuum, etc. in there. There is more but because of work schedules I haven't seen it in sooo long I can't remember.

We just use this storage space for our water hoses and fittings which do a pretty good job of filling it up, and flex to fit through the outer door even when rolled up. We haven't even tried using it for inside accessible storage, I'm curious to hear if others come up with a better way to use it.

I am pretty sure I read a thread where someone enlarged the door to this compartment. They ordered the same door as in the rear compartment from the factory, and installed it in the front. I'm sure it made a world of difference.
