Default MPG towing

Finally some trip experience to report:

1640 mile round trip from PHX to Petaluma and return towing a 2010 TM3326 using a 2004 Chev Suburban 1500 with WDH. Mileage calculated from odometer readings and gallons to fill tank. TV has factory towing package with four speed transmission and towing shift point over-ride function.

TV alone (not towing) highway mileage at 75 - 80 MPH = 15 MPG (AZ legal speed limit is 75 MPG).

TV Towing:
GCVW=11,100#
original 15" factory tire diameter
3.73 axle ratio

Travel to Petaluma from PHX at 60 - 65 MPH = 10.5 to 11 MPG (used shift point over-ride for entire leg of the trip).

Travel from Petaluma to PHX at 60 - 65 MPH = 12.5 to 13 MPG (used normal shift point settings for entire leg).

Sorry !! I've been living in a Suburban world for too long. We've had a different one every few years since 1995. I just thought saying it was a "1500" was enough information because the 5.3 liter V-8 was the only engine choice in a "1500" until 2009. The "1500" also means it is a two wheel drive (rear) on a 1/2 ton chassis. With the factory towing option and a WDH it has a 7,400# towing capacity, 1,000# tongue weight capacity and an combined vehicle capacity of 13,000#.

So..... the answer to your question is; the engine size is a 5.3 liter V-8, 240 horsepower at 5,900 rpm and 245 pound-feet of torque at 2,800 rpm.

Regards,

Jerry

Default Mpg

I have a 2000 2720SL and tow with a 2009 Honda Odyssey. I get 23-24 when I am not towing and doing 75 on the interstate and 16.5-17.0 when I tow my TM.
