Default Detaching roof trim piece? Interior /

My first post here as we just acquired last week a 2015 2417KB for our family of 4. This forum has been an enormous help already as I've been able to diagnose and fix a number of small issues thanks to all the great info.

One thing I cannot find in any searching, is the name of these left-to-right plastic trim pieces on the rear roof. They don't look to be structural or protecting any seam, but I'm guessing they are to support and maybe help seal the upper roof when it sits down? 1 is loose and the other is half-broken off. Can anyone confirm a part number for replacement, and the best product for re-attaching them to the roof?

Also, you can see an interior time piece on the outer shell is dangling down from the top left corner, where the inner and outer shells meet when fully opened. It looks like that trim only exists on one side, is that normal? And if so, how best to re-attach it?

We'll still have our offroad teardrop for getting back into the more rugged roads and trails of CO and Utah, but my family is looking forward to more comfort and space for our trips when we're not too far off away from reasonable roads.

It’s called a “rub strip”, it’s there so the bag seal on the front roof doesn’t rub through the paint on the rear roof when closed.

I'm not sure how the factory attaches those strips but I've never heard of them coming off like that. One thing is for sure. They need to be replaced with new ones.

If it were me, I would clean the roof surfaces (and the new strips) well with a detergent and finish up with rubbing alcohol. Allow to thoroughly dry. I would use 3M double sided VHB tape to reattach. I'd run a 1/2" (or more) strip on the bottom side of both sides of the strip (lengthwise). I'd snap a chalk line on the roof where one edge is to go. Then I'd lay the strip in place.

If you have a couple of helpers, it may be better to have one on either end of the strip hold the new strip squarely above the chalk line and the 3rd person push the center of the strip down then work your way to either end (be careful to follow the chalk line). There are no 2nd chances. After it's in place, it must be pressed down hard to activate the tape. I'd use a wooden roller. Once in place, it will never move.

Also, be sure to clean your bag seals real well and clean them regularly. I use an industrial citrus cleaner/degreaser from Home Depot.

It’s just 3M two sided tape.

Thank you everyone for the info! I reached out to Adam to hopefully get the new pieces, and the suggested method for replacing and cleaning the seals is greatly appreciated! A great forum here for sure.

I'm coming late to the party, but I would use 4-inch or 6-inch wide UHMW tape. My experience is that the OEM strips are a bit too narrow, and the bag seal can go off the edge, moving/rubbing a bit when the trailer flexes in transit - which is probably what caused the OEM rub strip to come off in the first place.

There are a number of other places where some UHMW tape can be a good add. The ceiling of the front shell is one. The outer sides of the rear shell, where the front shell's bag seal rubs is another. Keeping the bag seals clean is a good start, but not a perfect solution.

There are a number of posts on the use of the tape going back to 2007, and sources for it. Use the Search tool on the term UHMW.

It is expensive, but it works quite well. I purchased some through Grainger Industrial Supply, and if I recall correctly it was a better price than Amazon.

Here is why I suggest using 4-inch or 6-inch wide tape, despite its higher cost. This is the roof of my TM - and I haven't yet applied the tape. The black marks just forward of the rub strip are where the bag seal has missed the factory-installed rub strip, or slid off the front edge of it, as the shell moves in transit. It has started to rub the paint off the aluminum.
