New interior Flap Seals Homemade

Hello everyone,

I am ready to make new flap seals. For those who made their own what did you choose to put inside them? Foam? Thin wood to make them rigid?

What model TM do you have (you might want to add this to your signature)? If you have a front slide model, you should use something fairly rigid for the big front flap, since you will undoubtedly want to put stuff on it, and it needs to be rigid enough not to buckle.

For the narrow side flaps, I'm not sure it matters too much, but you want to be sure they are rigid enough not to deform if they get a little flexed or crushed as you close the trailer. In other words, lightweight foam is not a good choice.

Someone here replaced their flap seals with wood panels that just rested over the gaps when the shells are up. It looked really sharp, as I recall, but presumably too a bit more effort for setup and tear down. A search should turn up the thread.

That someone just posted a bit of a tutorial over on the TM Fans Facebook page showing what they did. The boards have foam underneath for insulation and to help keep them in place. But nothing really holds them… It looks really sharp but I’d constantly be worried about a wind gust or a critter or a crackhead knocking them out of place and getting into the TM.
