Default Radio: easy to swap out?

Just picked up a "new to me" 2720. Looking to swap out the old radio for something that is Bluetooth friendly. Am i correct in assuming that any car stereo of the same size face can simple be swapped in? Thanks!

Yes. You can also get an FM transmitter that connects to your phone via Bluetooth and plugs into the cigarette adapter. That will accomplish the same thing....maybe $15-$20.

The size of the opening above the refrig is called "single DIN", and it is a common standard. As long as you stay with that size, it will physically fit.

The back of the radio has a big multi-wire connector that connects to the speaker wires, power wires, and so forth. Each radio tends to have a different connector, and so the radio often comes with a short adapter cable. You could make the connections yourself - solder and tape - but if you can get a pre-made adapter, you will be happier.

The antenna cable has a standard connector, so don't worry about that.

A good source of info is the catalog or website from Crutchfield.com. They are sometimes expensive, so you might not buy your radio there. But take a look at it.

I'm in the same boat.. I assume that a decent small radio will fit. Then only concern I have is the connections. Most new stereos have a plug connection rather than individual wires. (I'm thinking my 2006 TM doesn't have a modern plug in connection. Going to have to look at one to find out.
