Mark - I had the sale and order in the works prior to the show. The show is where we first saw the TM, though, two years ago.

The 40 water tank was behind the axle in our original 2417, also, and I always traveled with it full. Don't want to take a chance on not having water where we go, whether it is bad, turned-off, or just not available. Yes, it's 10% more weight, but worth not having to worry about it.

I'll take it to the scales on one of my early trips, to see just what everything weighs, ready for a week-long outing.

LoveToCamp, belated congrats! If I were looking for a TM today, I think one of the wider 2417s with a slider would be ideal. Thanks for the info on different water tank placements. For now at least, I plan to run our 2720 indefinitely. Years down the line, if someone trades in their 2417 KS or KD, me thinks I may have to give it serious look!

Thanks! I know the 2417 is the right size for what we want to do (off-road camping). I like the KD much better than the KB, plus the Standard width instead of the Sport. Just two of us, but the floorplan is much more open in the Standard KD.

While a larger unit may be nice if we stayed in campgrounds all the time, I don't see that happening for us. We will sometimes be in campgrounds (when going to National Parks, and not wanting to take a chance on finding some boondock spot nearby), but I like to be away from people when enjoying quiet time.
