Luan panel?

Had water damage to street side wall just forward of the 48" window which occurred during previous ownership. I've removed the luan panel and I'm not going to replace it unless it's a stiffener for that wall. I'm assuming it's merely aesthetic since there's not a panel on the opposite wall, but I'm too old to to not recall some of life's other misadventures experienced consequential to assumptions. Can't get in touch with factory in SD, anyone got a heads up on this?
