Default Freshwater Tank Size

I'm looking at a 2006 2720 (two bed model) and the standard option sheet mentions a 20Gal freshwater tank. The TM website lists the 2720 has having a 40Gal freshwater tank.

Can anyone confirm if TM changed the size of the freshwater tank recently, or if possibly the option sheet has a typo and should say 40Gal for a 2006 2720 (QB)?

My '06 equipment list says "20 gallon fresh water".

If this is true, when did it become standard? 40 Gal is the standard now. I'm assuming if it is a 20 Gal, it wouldn't be too difficult to swap in a 40 Gal, probably just expensive to have TM ship a 40Gal tank...

My 2720 has the optional 40 gal. 20 was standard in 09'
Looks like the seat frame was installed after the tank and would cause you install
Issues, not prohibitive but more work.

I believe the 40 gallon tank became standard only within the last couple of years. If I am not mistaken, the 20 gallon tank is located under or near the sink. There is not room there for the 40 gallon tank.

My first 40-gal tank was under a dinette bench, and extended into the rear storage. My current 40 gallon tank is in the back storage area. You would need to find a space, then run water lines, and put the water pump someplace. You may be able to plumb from the new location to the existing pump placement, but I am not sure if that is feasible. Guess it wouldn't matter, though. You have to run the water to that point to tie-in to the existing plumbing.

Not an impossible job, but running a water line after the unit was built will be a bit of a challenge.

Good luck!

The guy that had special ordered our 2922KB had asked for a 20 gallon freshwater tank. When we bought it (the original orderer ended up not taking delivery of it), we asked Custom RV to put back the original 40 gallon, and I think it was pretty straight forward. You can see some of my early posts where I was having a little difficulty getting water in the freshwater tank without it spilling out of the opening. I don’t know if that’s because of the swap out, but otherwise, it’s been fine (I figured out a way to sort of close off the opening while filling to fix that leaking problem). Ours was in the dinette seat too like the pictures are showing.
