Default Addding drawers to the sofa

Has anyone put drawers in the front of the sofa? It is pretty much waste space as we pack most stuff elsewhere as we find to to hard to get into the sofa storage area.
I thought about installing pre-made drawers by cutting openings through the front of the sofa. I would shore up the sofa front where the between the drawers so it would maintain structural strength.
If anyone has tried this I could use some pointers.

It's been done by the current Asst Director of Dixie Chap Ed Ruch and he might have pics of the job. Maybe PM him for the info.

Default A great idea but...

This may not apply to your situation specifically but I want to throw this out there for anyone that might be affected....my first thought about sofa drawers was, "what a great idea", my second thought was, "easier storage = more stuff = more weight". I have reached my comfort zone with my TV/TM setup so I'll not be considering this one any further, at least for now, but I do think it a GREAT IDEA if it works for you.

Wink

That sounds like a great idea. We have a bunch of "junk" under couch. My honey thinks we will use some time, but don't. Yard lights and flag type stuff. We had TM cut a inside door; when we had them install the plumbing guard right after we bought it. Unforunately they cut it right opposite the outside door, so it didn't make it any easier to get to things. But pull out drawers would be great. I could store the stuff that is transported in bins instead making set up and tear down faster. We love our 29/22KS, but we are older and hate the time it takes. Someone has to have done this.

Your points are well taken. Maybe just access doors to the under sofa storage. Would equal a lot more capacity than drawers and a little less weight.

Drawers would give a lot easier access though. It wouldn't be hard to do with some simple drawer slides. Just frame in the drawer opening and screw the front of the slide into that framework. Them make some simple, light weight, plywood hangers to support the rear of the drawer slides. Build drawer and install. Of course, you'd have to have a latch on the drawer to keep it from opening while towing.
