M&M - That is pretty funny. Sounds like a perfect cartoon. To the tent camper, traveling with a trailer or motorhome seems easy. To the RV owner, traveling with nothing other than your tent and stove seems easy. That's why I do both. It's classic.
Bill - Thanks for the clarification.

Hmmm. I'd like to know more about the break-away too. Because on the Elkmont there is also only one fused wire from the battery.
I always assumed that the brake-away broke a circuit, causing the brakes to activate. And that the application of voltage caused them to release. Like a "dead-man's" switch. But that would mean that the brakes would activate anytime you took out the main fuse or removed the batteries.
EDIT: Bad assumption.

And my Elkmont still has the original, cheap, prone-to-burnout inline fuse holder at the battery. Gotta fix that.
Sometimes it just amazes me how complicated and tricky these trailers can be.

Sounds like it varies from model to model, or year to year, or maybe just who happened to be doing it at the time. But if there's only one line leaving the + terminal and it's fused, ... then the breakaway has to be fused.
IS the breakaway switch a one-use type of device? You have to replace it after use?

Just re-install the pin and it's ready to go again.

Realize this is an older post but brulaz hit the nail on the head with our '11 2720SL.....in line, wire nutted poor ring lug crimped, fuse feeds everything on our TM. There for if disconnects from the TV its a crap shoot if the brakes work or not. The breakaway switched is wired, or was, under the refeer with scotchlok splices. It was wire nutted at the tongue. I have just received my parts order so I can fix the wiring at the battery, that was dealer in this case.
