Default Jack knife bed hardware

Hello there - hope everyone is well! I know I haven't been on here in ages! I didn't even take Fiona out last summer - at all - ugh! It was sort of a crazy/crappy summer...

Anyway, I am currently in the middle of converting a van into a camper - Ford E350 cutaway van with a fiberglass Unicell cargo shell. I want to repurpose some of the sofa parts that I pulled out of my TM. Especially the jack knife sofa hardware.

Can anyone post a picture of how the rails are sitting/oriented on the inside of the sofa base? Not sure how they should be attached to some sort of base cabinet frame. I remember you slightly lift the front of sofa bottom and pull forward, and the wheels glide on the angle iron. I'm just not sure how to make it so it all won't just 'fall off' once it's in the bed position.

Hopefully someone understands what I'm trying to explain!

Thanks!
Holly

Holly,

Our sofa was reupholstered a few years ago and I took some photos of the rail assembly. Hopefully the attached thumbnails will be helpful. My rail system does not have wheels though.

Perfect! Thanks so much - I would have ended up mounting the angle iron upside-down, most likely! On mine, the rails mounted to the bottom of the sofa cushion have little wheels. Hmmm, now I'm not sure what they are supposed to ride on.... EDIT - never mind, I'm an idiot - I had them reversed, so was thinking to have the little L to the back side, the angle iron would be on side and top. Doh! Nope, switch sides, and angle iron is on side and bottom.

Holly,

Perhaps the little wheels you see are merely spacers between the angle iron and the lower armrest cushion. In one of my thumbnails you might just make out the white spacer. Also note the vertical angle iron is secured to the lower armrest with 6 screws. Make sure the vertical angle iron is tilted slightly downward towards the back of the box. I can take a few measurements of the angle iron orientation if you like.
