Art and Joyce -

I have used the gravity method for years, and it works great. One thing to watch out for, though. If you lower the tongue too much, it is easy to pull the front shell up from its resting position. That's the good part. But once you get the shell halfway up and pass the balance point, the front will come charging forward toward you like a runaway train. I did this just once, and fortunately did not hurt either myself, or the TM when the shell slammed into the stops. Either could have happened very easily, and would have been very bad.

When you first try this approach, start by lowering the front just a bit, until you find the best starting position. This is probably what you meant when you said "play with it".

I am now of the belief if you feel the need to the this "gravity" method, your torsion bars need adjusting. My front shell is now easier to lift into place then it is to pull out the slide.

Larry, I agree with you - but my torsion bars were at the end of their adjustment, and I was unwilling to go through the headache and cost of replacing them. The gravity method is not perfect, but is adequate when needed, I guess.
