Question Dometic RM 2310

Just purchased and remodeled a 1998 2431KS. I was wondering if you can operate the refrigerator on the propane setting while the camper is folded down. I saw some vents in the bottom of the trailer.

You can, but you have to run the fan to keep the compartment from overheating. It located in the compartment floor. Make sure it runs before closing up.
I personally wouldn’t run my fridge with it close, but others do.

I did it with the fan on several times. I don't think the flame burns efficiently and you get too much soot on the burner.

If the reason you wish to operate the refrigerator on propane while closed is to do so while travelling, some States may not permit that. Typically we found that keeping ice packs in the freezer section while camping, then moving them to the fridge part while travelling, food stayed cool even after a day of travelling.

Your fridge should have a battery operating option, which is what many people use, this does require operating the fan to keep it cool. Also the battery option should only be used when connected to the TV and is being charged through the charge wire of the 7 pin connector.

Default Ice packs or frozen food

I'm with Larryjb, wouldn't run on propane or 12V for various reasons while traveling. We too use reusable ice packs when traveling, and they have worked out just fine. We also freeze one or two prepared meals before we leave home and put them in the lower section to thaw and keep the fridge cold on our first leg of travel. Both methods work great for us.

Happy camping!

Default Ran battery down once

Forgot to mention, we had a Chalet A-frame camper before we had our Trailmanor, and I left the camper plugged in with the fridge running one time when we stopped to eat. When we came out, both the camper (two 6V in series) and the TV batteries were deader than a door nail. Had to beg someone for a jump to get back on the road. Never again!

Default ARB Fridge/Freezer FOR SALE $400

I owned a new 2014 TM2417 for 4 years and traveled out west during the summer. While traveling from campsite to campsite, I found out I could not run the TM refrigerator on DC power due to the electrical drain on the batteries and I didn't want to use propane while traveling. So, in 2015, I purchased the ARB Fridge/Freezer for the TM which allowed me to stay plugged in between campsites and to do some short-term camping without hookups. The power usage of the ARB is a tiny fraction of the TM refrigerator.

https://www.amazon.com/ARB-10800352-.../dp/B004P9C032
Amazon sells it for $849.99.

It's the 37-Quart size, uses AC or DC, and can be used in an RV, car, boat, truck, SUV, etc. Since I sold the TM2417, I've stored it our home and it's in excellent shape.
