1999 Lincoln Navigator TV

Just wondering if anyone has towed a TM with an all wheel drive Lincoln Navigator. I am looking for a 2619 or 2720 to be towed with my Navigar. I would be towing in the Colorado mountains. Any input? Dave

the largest TM we are considering is a 2619 or 2720.

If you're buying a new TM, Let me suggest that you consider the 2720 instead of the 2619. We bought a 2619 and have wished ever since that we'd bought a 2720. The larger bed in the back and the extra storage would be very nice to have! There's no doubt that your Lincoln would handle either of these trailers. We tow with a GMC Jimmy and have towed in Colorado so I'm sure you can do it, too. The Jimmy is rated for 5900 pounds, so you have plenty of leeway.

I agree with the 2619 versus 2720. We bought the 2720, mainly for the queen bed in the back. The extra storage is getting used more than I thought it would. By adding the swing away tongue on the 2720 I was able to get it into the garage.

Same here. We got the 2720 this year and love the queen in the back. Also got the swing away hitch and store it in our garage, a little over 18 feet long stored.

I would think your Navigator would easily tow a TM, no matter the size.

Assuming you have a factory tow package (sounds like you do), you should be good. Your tow rating is 1000 pounds higher than my Explorer. Your rear end ratio is the same. Your engine is bigger, which should mean more torque (I haven't checked the numbers).

I have pointed out that my Explorer works quite hard, and slows down quite a bit, as we approach my personal benchmark, the west entrance to the Eisenhower tunnel. (I hold the RPM to 4000). I would expect that you would do better, but your Navigator will still be huffing and puffing pretty seriously. The problem isnt the grade - it is the altitude. A naturally-aspirated vehicle just can't breathe up there (neither can I!) Your 4V engine design should help in this area. I would love to have a supercharger to restore sea-level air pressure, but years of searching have yielded nothing.
