Default Rub line on the ceiling

My ceiling has a rub line through the paint over the couch. I believe it is from vibration of the bag seal against the ceiling.

Has anyone painted that area with good results?

Please use the Search tool on the phrase "UHMW". It has been discussed a lot.

I added the rub strips on our 2002 3326King. I called Ed at TrailManor, and he sent me the rub strips just like the ones that are used on the outside. They look just fine, and no more black streaks on the ceiling.

Bill, I'm assuming by the lack of followup when I did the UHMW search, that the tape is still working well for you??

Those that are trying to remove it from the outside, I wonder if WD-40 would have helped them.

Though it is hard to apply in a straight line (two people required!), once in place it has worked very well. I used it on the rub areas both inside and out on my 2002 TM. The factory applies it to the outside now (at least on my 2006 TM), but I still had to do the inside.

How well does it match the paint on the ceiling?
I looked on line and found it for $7 for 4 feet of three inch wide. Do you remember how much TM charges?

The UHHW tape is opaque, so it matches fairly well. I just posted a pic of mine installed within the past month or 2 in a different thread on the same topic.

I bought mine from McMaster.....the North Pole of suppliers. They have everything.

As Dave says, McMaster is a great supplier. I got a 5-yard roll (the smallest quantity) of the 6" tape from them, and I think I got the medium-thickness version so it was about $36. That is enough to do both the ceiling inside and the roof outside - 4 feet won't be enough for either.

As I recall, I used the 3" tape on the ceiling of my earlier TM, and it wasn't quite wide enough. The movement of the shells caused the seals to scrub a bit beyond the edges of the tape. The 6" tape prevents this, and is a bit more forgiving in terms of placement. This stuff is really sticky, so if you don't get it in exactly the right place on the first try, you can't move it. On the other hand, I think TM uses 3" tape on the roof, so if you are really careful about placement, you will probably be OK. As I mentioned earlier, it really helps to have two people when you are installing it.

The color on mine is translucent, kind of like Scotch Magic Mending tape, and so it matches very well. The stuff that TM uses on the outside is opaque white, like Dave described, and quite a bit thicker than the McMaster stuff. I have no idea what they would charge you for a length of it.

Other than getting you to order it for me,, I'm looking at part #
76445A746 on the McMaster web site http://www.mcmaster.com/#uhmw-polyethylene-tape/=8giq17. $35.67 per 5 yard roll X 6" wide .0065" thick
Sound right to you??

Not to hijack this thread, but if it is "kind of like Scotch tape" does it cover the black mark or does the black show through?
