Default Venting The ThetFord Electra Magic Toilet

Has anyone tried venting the ThetFord Electra Magic Recirculating Toilet? I read a post that had good results using the Lil'Stanker In-Line Deodorizer Fan. However due to the folding of the TM, it presents some challenges. I wonder if venting out the side would work; which would be easier but not as effective as above the roof. If that failed, you could come out the side and then extend externally above the roof after the TM is set up.

Any thoughts????

There's a guy on the TM Fans Facebook page that vented it out the side and has a hose that he attaches up to the roof with a vent once the camper is set up. I'm gonna steal the idea when I add my Sealand toilet. Don't know if he has one or not but also gonna add a plug for when the hose is removed and the camper is collapsed. If I can find a picture, I'll add it here.

Did the Camco Cyclone provide adequate venting without the wind blowing? I'm leaning towards adding the Lil'Stanker inline fan to eliminate the foul odor.

It worked great regardless of wind! We started using "Happy Campers" powder and will never use anything else!

Hi Shane, Since I put the Sealand in and use Happy Campers I don't have to vent to the roof! No smell from toilet at all! I bought a chrome vent cover at West Marine and it works well! If I want to do a really good flushing of the tank I remove the vent and stick a hose in the hole and its super clean, usually if the TM is gonna sit for a while I'll flush it from the top!

Default Happy Camper dose

How much HC powder do you put in your toilet? The Happy Camper website says to call them for recirc toilet use. I know you have a different toilet now, but wondered if you tried the HC powder back when you had the Thetford.

With the old toilet I used about an ounce and it worked well for 2 days and the next morning flush, Whammo what a smell, another half ounce held over another day and dump the next morning! Its as if it forms a barrier at the surface to stop the smell but the depth of doo doo rises and all hell brakes loose! Two days and nights is awesome then dump! Regardless, its way better than any other chemical I've used and more cost effective! With the Sealand I use 1/2 ounce and don't add until after dumping! I bought a 130 oz container and am still using it over a year later! I was spending $11. a week or so while on the road for the blue stuff and always smelled something! Since we are older now and not on the road as much and considering selling our TM, the new owner will have enough to get started!
