Default 18 nights in our TM, 10 campsites & 1 ER Visit

We just returned from our Glacier/Yellowstone trip with 2 long time friends. We are still speaking after almost 4000 miles.

We started from St. Louis with stops in Omaha at Glen Cunninham city park (8 on a scale of 10), Corps of Engineers camp on Lake Sharpe in Chamberlain, NE (9), Custer State Park, NE (9),Billings MT, friend's driveway (10), Dick's RV Park, Great Falls, MT (8), Glacier NP, (facilities 8, experience 10), Yellowstone NP, Fishing Bridge (8, experience 10+) [thanks to Mama Bear],Sheridan, WY KOA (8), Roubidoux city park, Gering, NE (9+) - ER in Scottsbluff was first rate. Our fellow traveler had a heart electrical malfunciton & was well taken care of. Mahoney State Park, Ash, NE (10). We, indeed live in a beautiful, diverse country. We saw one TM, a '92 in a rest area in Montana. The folks were from Oregon.

We saw bison, elk, deer, chipmunks, but no bears and travelers from Germany, Denmark, Japan, Canada and all over the U.S. It was a great trip and the TM did great. The furnace is a rowdy noise maker, so even though we had some really cool nights (below 40) we only used it to warm up in the mornings. Never did use the AC. We did use our screen door and the screens that I had made for the flap openings and both worked fine. Our only equipment failure was a split in our gray water tank. We used our blue tote instead and will be calling our dealer tomorrow.

We rode the red bus over Logan Pass and took the boat ride on St. Mary's Lake in Glacier and the Circle of Fire bus tour in Yellowstone. Ken was relieved to be spared the driving so that he could look out of the window. Highest gas price was $2.19 inside Yellowstone and it was $1.88 when we returned to St. Louis.

Tried to get pictures through the windows of the TM of the mountains in Glacier so we could duplicate the views shown on the TM brochure. They haven't been developed as yet. May you all have safe and great journeys in your TMs. Olga and Ken - Northwoods

Glad to hear you had a great trip? I am really surprised you didn't see any grizzlies in Yellowstone or a moose? You were camping in prime bear country out there? How was the fishing bridge campground, is it kid friendly? We are going out there next year again and this time we are staying in the park. I am glad you had a great trip.

Default 18 nights in a TM, 10 campgrounds

Yes, we looked all over for bear, but never saw a one. The bison and elk were magnificent, though. Fishing Creek was convenient, but sites are really close. The shower, laundry, store areas are close, however and the amphitheater is in easy walking distance. There are no play grounds, per se, but saw many kids riding bikes in the loop around the campers, and walking distances to latrines, showers, etc. are easy. It was a great campground to sleep at night, but really not a place to hang out. There's too much to see in the Park, anyway. The campground at Junction was more aesthetic, but does not have electric and I don't think they have showers or laundry. There is a store at the Lodge nearby. Junction is about 20 miles closer to the east entrance. We did not take the highway to Red Lodge as you recommended, but going due east to Sheridan on 14 took us through a beautiful pass over Shell Creek. We also stopped at the new Trail Museum in Casper - where the Oregon, California, Mormon and Pony Express Trails crossed though the South Pass. That was an unplanned surprise for us, well worth the stop and also a return trip sometime. Happy camping. Olga (Northwoods), Florissant, MO.
