2417 Sport - Gray Water Tank
Bought a 2012 2417 Sport this year. I have a 40 gallon fresh water tank, but gray water tank only holds about 12 gallons. Anyone know if the gray water tank can be changed to 30 gallons or so.
Thanks,
Kevin

kevtrail - while it claims 11 gallons, reality is 8 gallons. I had one, and I found that it only held 8. I spoke to TM about it, and they said the larger tanks they use (30 gal) would not fit my 2012 Sport. So, I carried a 5-gal bucket and emptied every day, just before showers. I then emptied after our showers (DW did not adhere to 'navy shower' as well as I hoped).
A bit more of a chore than emptying a 30 gal at a dump station. But, I did not find it to be a problem. I have a 30 gallon on my new TM, but still empty it daily via 5 gal bucket.

Thanks for the info. A bit of a hassle, not too bad. With a 40 gallon fresh water tank, a big mismatch for the gray water. Not sure why they did it that way.
One last question, did you add cabinets? We were thinking of adding a few.
Thanks,
Kevin

Yes, I added one "large" cabinet, on the street-side wall. Ordered it from TM, as it is a flat-back, vs. the extended wall like the larger TM units use. Simple to hang, and kept paper products in it. Very handy. Don't know as a second one would fit anywhere, without being in the way.

Thanks, heading down to factory in April for a tune up. May add a cabinet.
Thanks,
Kevin

I use both of my hanging cabinets -I appreciate some items being up high.

When you mount your cabinet, don't put it too close to the ceiling. We put small items on top - hats, book, tablet, etc. Just one more shelf to use. We have about a 4" gap between the top of the cabinet and the ceiling.
