Default No A/c power in my 2619...

I have a TM2619, 1999 model, that I picked up for a couple hundred bucks. I have no a/c outlets that work on battery alone. They all work fine when plugged in to external power. This has never been an issue before, I've never used them. Now, however, I want to take my father in law clamming, and he uses a CPAP forced air machine when he sleeps. Is there a switch I have to throw? or is there a way to check the inverter? Pretty new to this, and don't know where to go with it. Suggestions? I tow with a 2006 Honda Ridgeline.

The AC outlets ONLY work on shore power. There is no inverter standard in the TM. The device in the TM is a convertor, it converts 120V AC to 12V to charge the battery and run the 12V items ( lights radio etc) in your TM. You can add an inverter however I would carefully check the power requirement of the CPAP as inverters are not 100% efficient. In other words if you have an 80 AHr battery with nothing else running but the machine you can expect about 450 watt hours of normal capacity. That means if the machine draws 45 watts ( not very much) it can run for 10 hours max. If the machine is critical to his health, I would not recommend dry camping ( no shore power).

And when you get a chance, please tell us about how you stole that TM "for a few hundred bucks." I know there is a good story there.

Sorry, no big tail of swashbuckling or ingenious financial finagling. I knew a guy who died and his widow had to divest herself of property that was in her husband's name to keep her Medicaid coverage. She's in a wheelchair and didn't have alot of use for it, she needed it gone more than she needed money.
I dip net salmon for her by proxy every year now, and she cans her haul and half of mine. If you are unfamiliar with dip netting, a good article here http://ezinearticles.com/?Alaska-Dip...ture&id=201851 . So I guess a couple hundred bucks and some fishies? I do odd jobs and home repairs for her as well... it was the gift that keeps on giving. I'll take her son hunting this fall in it as well.

Default Edit...

Haha. I just realised I wrote "tail" instead of "tale"... I guess it's time to go fishing again.

So sorry to hear of her loss. I am glad though she has someone (like you) being a good friend and sounds like she has been good to you in return (with the TM)
