Grass Valley once more
We're on our annual pilgrimage to the Grass Valley Bluegrass Festival, about half way between Reno and Sacramento. As we often do, we left a few days early to spend some time near Lake Tahoe. But this year it was a bad decision. Winds howled when we got there on Wednesday and the temperature dropped to 28 at night. We thought it might be a front just passing but the winds, though not howling, were still cold the next two days and made any outdoor experience, including campfires, quite unpleasant. On Friday, some folks set up in the site next to us along with their four howling dogs. That was the final straw. We packed up this morning and headed over Donner Pass and down to Grass Valley a day early.
We expected an empty campground at the Fair grounds in Grass Valley but were dead wrong. It was full of Airstreams having a rally. We have a reservation for Sunday night but tonight was looking dismal until the campground manager offered to let us set up next to his rig and tap into his water and power. Tip of the hat to him! Tomorrow we'll move to our reserved site.
No wind here and the temp was 85 when we arrived. My aging banjo fingers just didn't work in the cold at Tahoe. I think we're going to have a good week here.
