Default Camping on the Gulf Coast in February

Hey all,

I know most of you are now planning your summer camping, but not us. I work at a state park as a seasonal so we can't get away for more than a few days at a time during the summer. I also garden and ditto. So, we have our fall trip to the Oregon coast pretty well figured out and are starting to plan our winter trip. We have decided to head toward the Gulf Coast in Texas, as we have not been there yet. Soooo, we ask for recommendations and advice. We'll have at least a month, not counting travel. Dog friendly is a must. Drinks with umbrellas in them optional.

Ha! Yes, we have played that game at the river in Arizona. Yikes! Sometimes it feels really good to be old.

Not sure if you actually want to be on the beach or not. Brazos Bend State Park is not, but very nice.

You can throw a rock near any body of water anywhere on the gulf coast and hit a gator these days! A year or so ago they had to remove one from our neighborhood.

Yikes. That could liven things up when you take the dog out for the evening potty walk.

I have lived in California, Arizona, Wyoming and Colorado. I can't even imagine seeing a gator somewhere other than a zoo.
