Picked up 2004 Trail Manor 2720SL
Ok, so I got it home and set it up.
The testing and go thru on delivery took about an hour.
The fridge runs on electric and battery and propane...
The propane isn't working, and the tech has ordered a new thermocoupler and then that will be taken care of.
Everything else seems to be pretty simple so far!
Took it to a propane place, got the 2 tanks recertified (that was $5 each, and I am recertified for the next 5 years)
And then I refilled both tanks for $15 each , and actually one was full already.
The tanks are lay down tanks, and the guy who inspected them said they are in great shape. That's good news!
Here are some pics from today

Are you sure that is an '04? It looks like an '06.

I had a 2005 2720SL and it (and the 2004s) came with the stand up propane tanks. I had to mod the trailer to get the "Lay-down" tanks to fit (see my album for pics.
). The stand up tanks were impossible to remove when the slide was out. TM changed that in 2006.
Now, it may be that the previous owner of yours did that mod. I posted a lot of pics on here when I did mine.

To my knowledge, TMs WITH a front slide (i.e. 2720SL) have always had "lay-down" tanks, as in tanks in a horizontal position when mounted to the tongue. In contrast, those TMs WITHOUT a front slide (i.e. 2720) have always had "stand-up" tanks, as in tanks that are mounted in a vertical position.
In earlier TMs with a front slide, the horizontal tanks were mounted on the same plane as the top edge of the tongue. That necessitated a cut-out in the slide to accommodate the tanks when you pulled out the slide. This cut-out is shown in AmcFlorida's unit.
What changed sometime in the mid-2000s is that the same horizontal tanks were mounted lower, below the plane of the bottom edge of the tongue. The factory created some support that hung down below the tongue, in which the tanks were mounted. With this configuration, the bottom of the slide cleared the tanks when you slid it out, and so not cut-out was required in the slide, but at the expense of reducing ground clearance.
Thus, AmcFlorida's unit was made before this change. And yes, that means you cannot change the tanks with the slide pulled out. Further, removing each tank requires the removal of 3 bolts (6 in all for both). With the new tank mount, removal is much easier, though I have dealt with the more challenging removal method for 15 years.

I just looked thru your pictures. Do you plan to change your hitch to a riser? I have a subaru outback and I had to swap from a 'level' hitch to a 2" riser. Might go bigger too, b/c I had a similar trailer 'nose down' as in your pictures. I was not at all comfortable with that.

You're right. They weren't stand up but you couldn't remove the tanks with the slide out. I can't find any pics of the factory installation and my memory fails me. That was about 10-years ago... . I came up with a mod to lower the tanks so that they could be removed with the slide out.
I did that after the first time that I ran out of propane while on a campout.
I didn't use any bolts. The rear of the tanks slid into a slot that I created in the angle iron under the tanks rear. The front of the tanks were secured with 1- simple clevis pin (in each tank) that were EZ to remove in seconds.
With the tanks mounted like this, they were EZ to remove, even with the slide out.

I came across these pictures and I remembered why I did this mod.
The original attachment of the propane tanks were mounted in suck a way that it was very difficult to take out the rear mounting bolts and the front bolts are simply not necessary. A clevis pin works fine in the front and MUCH easier to remove.
The key to this mod was the slotted angle bar in the back of the tanks. Once the front clevis pin is removed, one only need to slide the tank forward and the tank comes right out.

The factory has built them exactly as you describe, for several years now. I hope they sent you a check for your consulting work!
This is a really nice mod for anyone with the lie-down bolt-down tanks. I remember mine - and scraping the skin off my hands trying to get a wrench on those bolts - after first trying to find the wrench!
