Wardrobe question

I put one of those canvas sorters in the wardrobe to store small things like potholders, a first aid kit, etc. and hung maybe 10 shirts inside our wardrobe so it wasn't overly heavy but when my husband slid it out to fold it down, the slide popped it's rivits (or screws or whatever it is that holds it on to the front of the bed)! He was able to fix it I think but I was wondering if you are not supposed to keep things in the wardrobe unless you are camping and keep it empty for folding down and setting up?

Has anyone else had this problem?

I took our wardrobe out, and a lot of the screws were loose and/or pulling out. So I think we were close to this happening.

I haven't had any problems (yet) and I also use a similar canvas dividing shelf in 1/2 the wardrobe for bread/chips/buns, then use the other half to hang a few clothing items as well as a couple things on the bottom. BUT - next time I have the TM open, I'll check the screws to see if anything is coming loose, seems like that could happen with the extra weight...

I had this problem, but only when I grossly overloaded the wardrobe. We were moving from Arizona to Maine, and packed in a ton of clothes - we could barely lift the thing off the floor. Not smart, I hear you say. And you're right.

We didn't lose any screws, but the rivet heads pulled through the piano hinge, as I recall. It was easy to fix. Disassembled everything, took the piano hinge to the workbench, drilled out the old rivets, and re-riveted, using pop rivets with backup washers. I think the backup washers are the key - the factory rivet heads aren't much larger than the holes, so they pull through easily.

Seems to have worked fine - and we'll know better than to overload in the future.

We never had any problems with ours, but we converted it to shelves and took the rod out. We used it for towels, blankets, etc. and it would get pretty heavy, but never had any problem.

We haven't had this problem. We keep several shirts or jackets as well as a couple of sleeping bags and other things in there. However, I do check most of the screws (inside and outside) for tightness periodically, just to be safe. Any RV over time will have something come loose. Good ideas were posted here previously.

wardrobe ?????? Dealer told me it was a gun cabinet

Mine is so stuffed with clothes that I need to use two hands to lift it or lower it.

I'll start keeping an eye on those screws.
