Default Lift Kit Question

For folks who have retrofitted a lift kit - do you have to adjust the height of the ball on your TV to match?

I'm getting ready to put in the lift kit, but I just thought of this, and I think the vertical adjustment on my Reese is maxed out.

Thanks for any info!

I did not. I can't remember exactly what my TM looked like prior to the TM, with regards to how close to parallel the frame was to the ground, but it certainly wasn't way off. Maybe my hitch was a little too high, as the TM frame is more or less parallel now -- and was so even before going from 14" to 15" wheels, which is another 1/2" rise. So if you'd perfectly parallel now and install the lift kit, maybe your ball mount will be "a little too low", but still ok. With a little trig, you could determine exactly how far your TM bumper would fall.

Also did not. Could not see any real difference between before and after.

Thanks to all who replied.

However, I should have checked my hitch BEFORE posting. The vertical adjustment is indeed maxed out, but at the bottom, not the top, so there should be no trouble making it level if required.

I'm done with the lift kit and 15" tire upgrade. I took the trailer to a level parking lot and with eyeball and level tried to decide if I need to adjust the hitch. My decision as of now is that I don't. Before the upgrade, it may have been a smidge nose high (which is why my vertical adjustment is maxed out at the bottom). Visually it looks a smidge nose low now, but the A frame is level per the bubble level. I considered moving the hitch up one adjustment point, but decided that would be too much (hole spacing is an inch or more).

Here are pictures of the 14" and 15" wheels and tires installed. Looks like plenty of clearance.

BTW, do I have the "round wheel wells" I've heard mentioned on the forum? They seem round to me but I thought this wasn't done yet in 2001.

Comparing yours to ours, you seem to have the rounded ones. I think they started them in 2000.

We have square ones in our 2000 model.

After re-reading some old posts I believe that the switch from square wheel wells to round ones occurred in 2001. Apparently some 2001 models have the square wheel wells and the later models have the round?
