Default Upgraded truck from 96 s10 to 2010 silverado 2wd 5.3l

Pulling a 97 2720sl. I used a wdh with the s10. I'm making a 600mi. Run to kansas up hiway 281 with the 2010 2wd. I like the wdh height in relation to the TM hitch when the TM is hooked up level only lowers the rear of the Silverado an inch. What any one think about using the wdh without the bars just using the hitch and ball. The silverado has the 6spd auto with tow package. In tow mode is it ok to use in drive you think? TM will be running dry no load. Any advice is appreciated.

I'd do it, the new truck will handle overdrive in tow mode very well as my v6 does and is way less of a tow vehicle.others will suggest the bars but I see no need if not loaded , especially no water in front of axle. JMO

Did the 2010 have the Traction Control ? Think was standard in 2012.

It has stalibili trac for traction controll or at least it has the button.

While many will say "don't need a WDH with xxx pickup", when you say it only drops the rear an inch, that also means it aims the headlights higher. I don't like to blind people when a WDH will keep the truck, and the headlights, level.

My feeling is that, if it drops the rear more than a quarter-inch, you will have high headlights, and that is not a courteous driver.

Guess I am turning into a curmudgeon!

Well I usually do not drive at night but is a good thought, think I'll drop a Benjamin on a pair of air lifts. Have used on other vehicles and work well. One thing I do not want to do is to add anything that will put more weight on the TM axle.

Not really going to be much dark to be driven in on this trip. just put on new maxxis 8008 st20575r14 will 45psi be good for a unloaded trip?

Well provided the weght of the trailer less tongue is less than 3520 lbs and you make it 50 psi and avoid shocks or cornering loads you should be OK.

To me that sounds too small for a 2720, the ULVW is 3243 lbs without any water or propane. Stock size for mine was 215/75R14 and called for 55 psi. I went for 205/75R15s LRD (2050 lbs at 65 psi) because I was concerned bythe height of a 225.

What does the sticker on the side of yours call for.

Sticker says 1760lbs and 50 psi cold. I only see UVW 2730.
