Default Rock Tamer

Are these a good idea? Will they impact towing mileage?

Another nice upgrade, but it would affect your MPG's. My TM is seven years old and yes the front does have a couple of small dings, but not enough to make me want to invest in that. If you are concerned, a simple set of mud flaps on your TV would suffice. If you plan on traveling on a lot of dirt and gravel roads, you won't want to go fast enough to kick up rocks, cause then you create a dust cloud behind you and you'll have a dusty mess inside your TM.

For the costs, I'll drive slow. Nice idea.

Depends. If your TV has open wheels or spin wheels on loose gravel a lot then maybe. Otherwise plain mudflaps would probably do as well.
