Cool Lift Kit Failure

Round one, lift kit installation failure on our 04 2720. After 5 1/2 weeks I finally got our lift kit from TM factory. I got my TrailManor jacked up on eight jack stands yesterday and had all four welds ground off in about 2 1/2 hours. Primed and painted fresh welds. After grabbing the 1st piece of tubing, dropped in the new bolts, and guess what? The bolt holes weren't even close. 7 in. C/c not 8 in. I thought I was going to stroke out! I called TM factory at 4:00 pm and by luck Eddie answered the phone. Had a Major Cow! Got a phone call this morning from RL and he said he didn't know how that happened. He said they would get one out Fed-X today. Hope it comes tomorrow.

Man thats annoying ! I hate when you set the time aside , get half way in to a project only to not be able to finish due to errors that were out of your control !

Hopefully smooth sailing from here on out -

I was really worried that the bolt holes wouldn't line up on my old trailer. But, it worked perfectly. I am sorry that this happened to you, I can imagine the frustration.

Cool Lift kit (round #2)-FAILURE!

Round#2 Failed Again! Got 2nd lift kit over nite, guess what? The guys at TM factory managed to get the 8 in. spacing right but had no off set from sides. After pulling out the drilling print, they informed me that there was no off-set from sides. They said they drilled on center and mounted all new axles this way with no side to side set back. I didn't like the idea of any inside over hang so I dropped tubes off at a local machine shop and they re drilled them. Got them back home and found the bolts were too short! Just can't get a break....New bolts tomorrow, gunna try again.

I know this is an old post. But after reading this post. I have changed my mine about order the factory kit. I'm thinking of just getting some square steel stock and skipping all the confusion. I too have the 8" on center axles.

I called a hitch shop that has a lot of square steel stock. They will sell me 2 1/4 - 12 inch sections for $30 plus what it cost to drill the holes, or installed for around $200. I was thinking of using receiver tube, which I think is 2 1/4 OD.

Does anyone know the bolts diameter and thread pitch? I think I will do it my self and picking the grade 8 or stronger bolts before hand.
