Default Replace AC Thermostat

Is it possible to replace the knob controlled AC thermostat with a wall mounted digital?

Anything is possible, in the end it is just a switch. Hard part would be running the wiring particlularly if not planning to put on the same module as the AC unit. Also that would just cycle the compressor, to also control the fan would take more.

DEarle I would think it would be just a 120v, 20 amp relay that is controlled by 12V, a stat wire and a stat that has cooling control. Maybe there is a kit?

I agree the hardest part would be running the stat wire up through the rise arms and across the ceiling.

We have found that after playing with the stat on the AC we have found the spot that controls it to 72 degrees and marked the stat control.

Default Replace AC Thermostat

Thanks for the replies,Padgett and tentcamper. I'm going to research it some more.

Another project I mulling over is to get some plastic 2" by 4" or so and use Velcro or something similar to hold it to the ceiling allowing air to be routed to the sleeper and to the front area. I could add openings anywhere more air was needed. Of course I would have to modify the existing inside grill. When it was time to pack up I would just release the extensions from the ceiling and lay them on the floor.

Mine too. I just wish it I could get it to do it a little quieter.

Our current AC is not bad just the noise of rushing air. But I did have an AC that was loud with a lot of vibration noise. I ended up taking the cover off on the outside cover and sprayed many of the areas with the rubberized under coating. Big difference.

TentCamper would appreciate a pic of your AC with rubberized coating. My AC is noisy when compressor kicks on and I would like to add some type of sound deadening material. Do u think your mod would help in this situation?
