Default Leaks

I have a leak which drips from the forward ceiling lights. Does anyone know of its source and a reliable fix?

Had one there too. Look at the roof from the outside. Right where the lite is mounted, there will be a little indentation. Water will puddle there and this is where you need to re-silicone along the center strip. I took the lite off and the factory drills a 1 to 2 inch hole to bring the wires to the lite and make the connection. This hole removes the foam insulation and lets the roof indent a little, and this is where the water leaks into the lite fixture! Hope this help! The Rip

Based on information that I have had in the past, it would be a very good idea to put sealant all along both sides of the place where the two halves of the front shell meet. Sometimes water will travel a long way seeking a place to drip out.

I did notice the depression in the roof over the light. I shall recaulk the whole center trim piece, both sides. Will post the results.

Thanks again

Default Roof leak

I had the same leak last year. I called the factory, and Ed Lytle sent me a tube of silicone (white) that they use on the outside of the trailers. He told me to pull the cover strip off, and then place a good bead of silicone over the center of the seam. I made sure that I placed extra silicone in the front area where the water tends to form a puddle. I then placed the cover seal back over the silicone. To play it safe, I placed a strip of silicone along the center cover strip. It worked fine after I did that, and I just opened up the trailer 1 week ago & it's fine. We have had a lot of rain in this week, and it's been dry in the light fixture cover.

So just call Ed at the factory, and tell him that you have a leak and need some of that good silicone. I am sure he will get it out ASAP since he is very dependable.

Default Center strip

Yes the strip just pulls off. It has like a self adhesive back on it. Once you apply the silicone to the center strip, the cover strip will stick ok because of the silicone. The trick is to make sure you place a heavy bead of silicone on the strip before reapplying the cover strip.

Another trick to fix it is to make sure the trailer is down and use a piece of 1/4 inch plywood to kneel on while repairing the leak. This way, you don't have to worry about damaging the roof.
