Ah. Nope the coupler doesn't turn the ball per say, the chains attached to the triangle plate attached to the cone turns the ball as the tow vehicle turns relative to the trailer... They did say not to go nuts with the grease though because it can run down between the friction sleeve, cone, and housing which would then cause loss of sway control.

Aslag54, sorry this reply is a bit tardy...
Center of outboard bracket to center of hitch ball on A-frame is almost precisely 30 inches...

I did return my 2720QD to Custom RV in Ontario, CA on Nov 4th. My Ram Ecodiesel tows great but I do need a WDH. I was able to easily maintain the speed limit on all grades between Seattle and Los Angeles and averaged 20 MPG towing over the 1200 miles. This Ecodiesel 3.0 Liter V6 blows away my Chevy 5.3 Liter V8 which had difficulty maintaining 45 MPH climbing Siskiyou Summit with the TM in tow. I didn't calculate the Chevy's towing MPG but the best I ever got was 19 MPG not towing anything. The Ecodiesel got between 25 and 27 MPG on the return trip with nothing in tow.

Ecodiesel has 420 lb-ft of torque. Net. Torque is what gets you up grades and direct injection boosted gas engines are just coming online so diesel is still king. For now.
Ford EcoBoost gas 3.5 has 470 lb-ft. Anyone have one ? Suspect it gets better MPG towing than the 2.7.

aslag54, I completely understand! Mine was effectively completed at Custom RV after I found a bunch of stuff done wrong or badly as delivered. Good folks there and I am convinced I never could have gotten a useable unit out of Nebraska at the time I bought mine.

Thanks for the good review of Custom RV it gives be some hope that they'll resolve the issues. I talked to Scott today and he said he was making progress but was waiting for parts.

IMHO Scott is good people and very competent, and he knows these rigs inside out. I hope Custom is able to make things right for you!

The rear of the truck drops over 3 inches with the trailer attached. I'm not sure how much it raised the front but the short time I towed after dark just about every other approaching vehicle flashed their brights at me.
