Default Corner Latch repair

Had the corner latch pull out. I did a search and found a few ideas. I'm going to try this. I bought the top part that the latch hooks on to. I plan on using JB Weld on the screws and on the back of the latch. Anyone see anything wrong doing it this way?

Thanks in advance for the help.

i see nothing wrong with that way,
sounds like the way i would fix, mybe even a wooden golf tee, split in half placed in hole to give screws a extra something to bite onto,

Default Didn't Work For Me

I hope it works for you. I tried that and on our first outing it pulled out. I hoped that the screws didn't end up in someones tires. When I put the JB Weld in I tried to fill the holes as much as I could. I ended up cutting a piece of aluminum and pop rivet over the holes and then screwed the upper part of the latch. No problem since. I have had that part of the TM apart and there is nothing in behind the screws other than the foam.

Reldma, that would be my first choice but I don't currently have the pop rivet equipment. I'll try this first then like you do the better repair later.

I also will loosen up the latches. I'm sure I have them too tight right now.

Two camping trips down and still learning. Thanks all.

FYI, a pop-rivet gun can be had for about $10-$20 at Amazon, Lowes, Home Depot, etc. I have one like this, which is nice because it accommodates multiple diameter rivets, and the head pivots so you can get at your material from multiple angles.

Didn't work for me either. Getting the aluminum sheet today.

Seems I've read several owners have had this problem. I'm surprized the factory didn't locate these over a section of the frame or weld in a reinforcement to the frame at that area.

Anyone know if this is an area they addressed on later models?
