Default Another curtain question - somebody help me out here!

I've taken down all of my curtains and valances in hopes of completing new ones through this winter.

I'm wondering if anyone out there has tried hanging up curtains using standard "cafe curtain" rods instead of using the tracks and tape? I wouldn't think the rods would stick out too far. I'm trying to avoid having to sew the track tapes onto the curtain fabric if possible.

The rods I'm referring to are like the ones you would see on a door, for example, that has one going across the top and one going across the bottom to keep the curtain taut.

Would there be enough clearance when folding down?

Also, could they just be screwed/mounted directly into the wall or do you have to do anything special (wall anchors?) when mounting things to the wall?

Thanks in advance to anyone who has thoughts/ideas/suggestions.

I think the rods would stick out to far!!! The tape you can get from the factory. If you can sew the curtian sewing the tape would be a breeze

I would have a couple of concerns: The rods would not be as securely attached . . . probably just 3 points as compared to the current system which spreads the attaching force along the entire channel; even if there is enough clearance to close the shells, remember that the shells move during transit. I would be afraid the rods would damage the outside shell (or box) outer skin. Also closing or opening the shell(s) isn't always an equal process . . . one side can lag behind, causing that part of the shell to sag more, contacting the box (or other shell) which could scrape or gouge the outer skin. I don't think anchoring the rods is a problem . . . don't think you would need any special anchors.

Good luck and be sure to let us know how you make out.

If our curtains are not closed they snag when you go to close the shells. (I believe that I read somewhere that the curtains should be closed when lowering the shells.) Anything that protrudes farther than the closed curtains, IMO, would be in the way of closing, except on the front and rear window.

Have you asked TM about a new set of curtains? We had some curtain issues when we first purchased our TM, and got a full set directly from the factory. The TMs curtains are a rather unique design that is somewhat difficult to duplicate. Because of the tight fit you are suppose to tie them back before closing.

Christmas was good as always.. Best of all is that we are healthy and blessed.
Hope 2007 goes fine for everyone on this forum.
We travel with the curtains closed . . . found that allowed the shells to open and close with less resistance.

Window curtains we close...they seem to stay cleaner if nothing else. Privacy curtains we pull across the beds.

Default Curtain ballot

We have always left the curtains tied back in the open position - probably because that is how the dealer left them when we picked our TM up. After 2 years they still look good. It also saves one step when setting up. - Camp2Canoe

Default Curtains

I tried to remember to close the curtains when folding down. I found that the ones I forgot to close had vertical dirt lines from rubbing on the shell during closing and transit.
