Tim, that is a pretty steep rise if you were starting near sea level. I find the tow/haul feature especially helpful as it automatically downshifts when going downhill. Good mileage too. I think Ford has figured out this pickup thing!

after reading this thread and others last night we looked at full size trucks today. drove a gmc and a ford. both were nice. the f150's ecoboost motor option was very impressive, but costs $1000 more than the 5.0 v8. redtail cruiser, markopolo and eddugo posted here that they bought this motor. do you owners feel it was really worth the extra money? $1000 buys a lot of gas

Yes, it is a lot of gas, but when towing you will have all the power you need (and then some!) and when not towing you will equivalent gas mileage to the 5.0L V8. In the scheme of the total cost of a truck I don't think you will regret having that power when you need it. Just my $0.02 worth

The 2015 model F150 is supposed to be aluminum! About 700# lighter but smaller engines in the line up.

Welcome to our forum, B Lily. I also think the Ecoboost engine is worth the extra money and for the same reasons that Mark mentioned. It has more horsepower and torque than the 5.0 liter V8 and it produces that 420 lbs of torque at only 2500 RPM, where the V8 puts out 380 LBS at 4500 RPM. All that low end torque really makes a difference you can feel when towing.
Good luck with your search and don't hesitate to ask questions. I will also mention that there are a lot of You tube videos that compare trucks head to head that are worth watching.

Purchased a 2012 f150 this past weekend. it has the ecoboost engine with 20,000 miles. thank you all for your input. I know that I will be happier and feel safer in a full size truck, no matter which Trailmanor model I choose.

Congrats on your purchase. I know you won't regret going with the Ford truck. I have only had this one for about three months now, but it is hands down the best truck I have ever owned.

Not a surprise, this has been a problem with turbos on and off over the years. I would have thought after decades of use the moisture problem with turbos would be no more.

I have read this and other threads on other forums concerning the moisture problems in the Ecoboost; however Ford reports that out of the 2 million Ecoboost engines built, the problem has occured in less than 2% of the trucks. Ford redesigned the intake in 2013 and when an owner experiences this problem they replace the old intake with the new redesigned one.
