Default Reposition batwing antenna?

While washing my 2720, I bumped the radio batwing antenna and felt it
break loose from its mounting. It was held in place with two-sided tape
that was "worn out". I am thinking about attaching it to the top of the
camper ahead of where it was originally. Some waterproof epoxy should
work to hold it in place and put the wings horizontal with the roof.

Before I do this, does anybody have any thoughts about this?
See pic for approximate new location.
Happy Camping!

Just FYI, this is not the batwing antenna, though I understand your confusion. The "batwing" is the crank-up rotatable antenna near the front of the roof. What you are looking at is the FM radio antenna, which has a built-in amplifier (the little red light). There is no magic right-or-wrong position for this antenna. Any location where you can get the wires to it, where it is reasonably high up and out in the open, and has no troubles as the trailer goes up and down, is OK. Does your picture show it re-located to the roof of the rear shell? That might be a problem as the shells go down.

Default I used Bob Smith epoxy

to attach the fm antenna as shown in the pic.

The tips of the wings still had a piece of the original 2 sided tape on them,
and I added some epoxy to them and to the center main base. I avoided
the screws in the center.

The station reception is quite good, and a camping trip to the boondocks
will show if it is really better. The antenna is mounted at an angle on purpose,
although I will not offer an explanation.

I never liked looking at the way that antenna was mounted. Glad I caught
the failing of the tape before it completely broke off.

Happy Camping!

“I will not offer an explanation” isn’t really in the spirit of sharing info, ideas, and experiences here on this forum, now is it?

Default Now that I have some road experience

with the antenna in the new roof mounting position, and some "boondock" reception testing,
I can say that I am happy with the new roof mounting. The station reception seems to be
improved, although I have no equipment to verify that.

If there were any sandwich wrappers in the air the angled antenna brushed them off.

If it would have broken off during a road trip due to the failing tape mount, that might
have been a problem.
