Default 2008 3124kb

We are going this weekend to look at the 2008 3124KB that we want to buy. What are some things that I should look for to make sure that everything is in good shape? Thank you.

There are a lot of good resources on the interweb but here are a few that I share with my friends and associates about buying any trailer.

Know the 'value" of what your buying https://www.nadaguides.com/RVs/2008/...4099470/Values

Bring a good flashlight, and a blanket or towel to get on the ground to inspect the underside. Ask for the inspection to take place early in the day so you have time. I prefer mornings so it's not HOT!

* Have the trailer open and available for a good inspection IN THE DAYLIGHT.
* Look inside and out for water incursion. (Water damage is the death nil for RV's)
* Make sure you look at the roof and underneath. Inspect vent covers.
* Ask the seller about roof seals (When was the last time they were checked/replaced)
* Ask the seller about tire/bearing replacements (Ask for receipts)
* Ask for a demonstration of ALL systems (Water, power, A/C, awning, Toilet, leveling)
* Open and close all windows, vents, cabinetry
* Inspect beds, couches, and other "soft surfaces"
* Outside check the corners of the RV to see that there have been no impacts.
* Look for all needed accessories (Awning poles, jack crank, dump hose)
* Assume you will be needing new a new battery (unless otherwise informed)

There will be minor cosmetic damage, these are OK and fixable. You are looking for major items that can mean $$$$ to repair or replace.

There are some specfics about TM's that need to be inspected.
* Inspect the "Bag seals" Where the two halves come together and the seals meet.
* Have the seller open and close the unit to see ease of movement.

If you read any of the posts in this (or any other RV sire) you will see that RVs are a work in progress. Seems there are always repairs/upgrades that can be done. Ask the seller what options/repairs/upgrades they may have done.

I used to tell my customers... "When you own an RV there are two things you'll need. A tool kit, and patience"

This is by NO MEANS a comprehensive list, and just off the top of my head. I'm sure others will chime in with their ideas and experience and things I missed.

If this is your first trailer I have some other info for "first-timers" ... But we'll save that for the next post.

When looking at the tires, be sure to look at the "DOT date code".

Trailer tires seldom show tread wear. Just because the tires have good tread doesn't mean that they are OK to tow on.

General rule of thumb is that tire life is (generally) 6-years then the tires need to be replaced (including the spare).
