Default Running water heater on AC

According to my owners manual the water heater has a heating element which allows it to work on electric. I have not been able to find any switch to enable this to happen. I have seen many post referring to a switch in the outside compartment. I don't see any thing like that. I replaced the anode last year and did not see any indication of a switch in that compartment. Does any one have any pictures of the switch?

Our switch is located in the outside compartment where the hot water heater is. It is a small black on off switch located behind a piece of pipe.

Before turning on run hot water taps so all the air is out- the electric element will self destruct if there is no water in the tank

And in about 15 seconds flat! Make sure the tank is full before turning it on. And, IT IS OK to run the heater on AC and propane at the same time, repeat it IS OK! Suburban even says it will recover faster that way.
