Default Recommendations for campsites at/near Flagstaff, AZ

Does anyone have any campsite recommendations or recommend places to visit in Flagstaff, AZ? (Looking for areas with easy, short walks, fairly flat trails, as there will be meeting a group of people with at least one person being in the late 80s.)

There is a KOA on the north side of Flagstaff that is wooded and reasonably nice.

The Riordan Mansion is worth a visit.

The Lowell Observatory is fascinating. There are a number of telescopes and other facilities there, including the telescope used to find Pluto, and the one that was used to study and map the presumed "canals" on Mars. It is an easy paved walk among these sites. In general, there will be a tour guide to describe everything to you, and you can look through some of the major telescopes.

Like many in the west, Flagstaff is an outdoors-oriented town. If you can split your group into hikers and non-hikers, the hikers have many additional choices.

When are you going? Flagstaff is at high elevation, and the autumn cold will set in early.

October or November was the plan, but the plans may have to change if the cold is going to be setting in by then. Thanks for the recommendations and tips.

On average, September is good, with 72 high /42 low. October is still doable 63/31, so you can expect pleasant days, but some frost at night. Novembrrr is 51/23. As in much of the west, humidity is generally low, the blue skies are beautiful, and it is pleasant to be outside.

Willing to do a little driving? The Grand Canyon, Walnut Canyon, Meteor Crater, Sunset Crater. Agree on the KOA, that's where we always end up.
