Default Schefenacker mirors

I'm looking to replace my McKesh mirrors with some that are electrically adjustable. Over on rv.net (Open Roads) forum the most popular mirror seems to be the Schefenacker. They run around 400 to 500 dollars. After what I already spent so far this year on the used TV and a new TM what's a little more?

I'm a little surprised that a search of the TM forums has found no reference to them at all.

Fully extended they reach out 22", about the same as I have my McKesh set for. Set to minimum extension of 17.5" makes them 3.5" out past my current factory mirrors. Mirror width is the same as the McKesh, but they are a little taller. They have a manually adjustable spotting mirror.

My biggest problem with the McKesh is the need to re-adjust every time we switch drivers. The McKesh also vibrate, not bad, but they certainly are not as rigid as the factory mirrors.

So far, the Schefenacker mirrors seem to be the best available at any price.

We have the same adjustment problem as you with the McKesh but I try to solve it by setting them so I have to lean forward a little to see and my wife has to lean back. We adjust the regular elec mirrors when we switch off driving so it's not a major problem. We are not looking at other alternatives because there are none for Toyota owners other than the cheapo strap-ons.

I think you are wise to look for people who have those mirrors. In my experience, aux extension mirrors that don't vibrate in high wind are like dogs that don't bark and men who never do anything they know will annoy their wives -- they don't exist.
