Default Extension Cord

I'm reasonably sure I'll need an extension cord to hook up to power at one if not both of the campgrounds where we'll be staying on our annual spring trip to FL. I believe the standard cord on our 2007 TM 2720 is a 30 amp. Is a 30 amp extension (25 or 50 foot) cord sufficient, or is there enough potential power loss over the total distance such that I should go with a 50 amp instead? Maximum projected power draw would be the total of whatever the A/C, refrigerator, a couple of interior lights and a small TV would require, and I could run the refrigerator on propane if needed.

I use a 30 Amp extension with no problems. Most 50 amp extensions have a 50 A vs 30 amp plug. I would pay more attention to the size of the wire in the extension than the labeling. Also the voltage in most campgrounds varies more than the additional drop you would get from a good 25 ft 30 Amp extension. next time you need a birthday gift idea, ask for a kill-a-watt power meter a great addition to any TM that uses shore power.

Price a 50A extension cord + a 50/30A converter and that may make your mind up for you.

Default extension cord

I can't say that we have needed an extension cord at any campground in Fl. Most have the power pedestal within 10 to 15 feet of the camper. If you need one get it in 10 gauge if you can find it. a 12 gauge may be a little marginal.
HarveyRv has a good suggestion.

Wal-Mart sells a good 30 amp cord in their RV section that is either 25 or 30 feet long. Has worked well for me.

I think that is where I got my short extension cord. I also am not sure if it is 25 or 30 feet. 25 I think.

I also got a 50 foot cord at Camping world.

I use the short one when the TM is parked in the driveway and the long one when it is parked on the street in front of the house.

The long one would certainly not be easy to coil up on a very cold day!
