Default Traveling from NO-WDW. Trailer parks in AL & FL?

We leave late Friday afternoon for WDW with our two (small) dogs. I am expecting to stop the first night either in AL or panhandle of FL. Any recommendations on an interesting park to stop at?

Also we won't have trailer spot at WDW until Sunday. So Saturday night we will need another place to tie down for the night. Any recommendations?

Thanks,

"Fred Gannon Rocky Harbor State Park" in the panhandle was nice, so was Manatee Springs State Park (more eastward though).

In Alabama there's a Corps of Engineers part called Deerlick Creek that was really nice, but it's kind of off the beaten path. Awesome sites hanging over the lake!

We went to all of these in Dec 2006.

Default Topsail Hill - Destin area

You will not find a nicer RV park anywhere than Topsail Hill State Park right outside Destin, Florida!

We go there from the Atlanta area at least twice a year.

You beat me to it Topsail Hill in Destin, is one of the nicest camping places we've every stayed at. We stayed there 3-4 days last October - a beautiful place, and it was uncrowded this time of year, though I've heard sometimes reservations can be difficult to obtain. Several other campers we spoke to, come back year after year. Unfortunately, on the days we were there, the beaches were closed because of the "Red Tide", but we had a good time anyway. This CG was "Dog Friendly" by the way.

ng2951 - Probably too late to make reservations now, but this place is definitely worth seeing.

Camping at WDW's Fort Wilderness is a great time for sure. We were there about this time of year a while back.

I recommend Florida Caverns State Park

They have a nice tour of the only dry caverns in Florida open to the public
