Default Can the TM stay open?

Will traveling on level ground at slow speed with the TM open cause damage to it? For instance, do you close up your TM if you just need to go the campground dump station?

Thanks,
Darienne

Nevermind, got the answer straight from TM...

"Thank you for checking with us. Absolutely DO NOT move that unit when
it is opened! If you are moving it slowly just a little ways you
wouldn't have to clamp it down but do not leave it open. Again, thank
you for checking with us. Happy Camping!"

We've moved ours from one campsite to another right "next door" but we did have to close down the front shell part way in order to make the turn into the campsite. Otherwise it would have bumped up against the bed of the truck.

The used-trailer dealer we purchased ours from moved it twice (against our instructions) while opened, about 100 feet across a flat paved/gravel parking lot. After a year of use I haven't noticed any problems because of those moves. I think they used an ATV and probably went slow.

If it's something you are going to be doing regularly (going to the dump station) you might want to consider one of the plastic wheeled totes as an alternative to moving the TM. There's a lot of info here about those.

This has been discussed before, you may want to search for that thread.
Generally moving while open is not recommended. Perhaps one could conjure up an emergency that would justify it, but why risk the significant structural damage one might cause? So most don't recommend it.
