Installing lift kit

DH wants to install the lift kit himself. He wonders if there is any reason that you couldn't raise the TM with the stabilizers (lifting with the jack first and then cranking down the stabilizers to elevate) Can the stabilizers hold the full weight of the TMsafely? Ours are the scissor style.

The stabilizers can certainly hold the full weight of the TM. Seems to me they are rated at 5,000 pounds EACH, so with four of them and a 3000 pound trailer, you have lots of margin. If you can still read the label on the jacks, you can easily check their rating on the mfr's web site.

I'll check on it. I'd be surprised to find anything resembling a label after 11 years.
If I can actually get the lift kit ordered (having trouble reaching the parts dept at TM) I'd be happy, at this point.

The scissor jacks on our 2000 2619 are the #945000.B62 Black 24” OEM Style on this page: http://www.liftco.net/index.html?pag...=Jacks&level=2 I know because our TM was short a jack when we bought it used.

Just put 3" lift on our 27/20. Used the stabilizer jacks with some 3" lumber under them. Pulled the axle out to redo brake wiring, etc. I went down to our local sheet metal shop and got two 12" pieces of 2"x3" tubing with 1/4" wall and some longer HD bolts. Worked like a champ, tested it on I-10!

DH would like to know, when installing the lift kit, how much torque (sp?) to use when tightening the bolts and do you need to grease those bolts to prevent rust?

I will be taking my 2006 3023 to our area TM dealer (Peco Campers in Atlanta) Sat. to have a lift kit installed and general maintenance. This will be their first lift kit install so I am a bit nervous about being a guinea pig. They quoted $275 for install including the parts. I thought that sounded reasonable considering the labor involved. I am going to make a list similar to the "Tune up special" that has been mentioned on another thread. It will be ineresting to see what their quote for that will be.

$275 just for the lift kit and install? That's over $200 labor for less than 2 hour job but I guess that's about what they get now days. I did mine myself and everything cost me $30-$35 bucks but I'm a DIYer.

I am usually a Diyer. I have the skill and tools but not the time. It is worth the price for me not to fool with it.

This Dealer in Atlanta is a little on th high side for evrything, but they are the only fairly close TM dealer.

You price was better than what was quoted to me from McDonough RV in

McDonough GA. $350.00 two years ago. That was the main reason for my

DIY lift project! As far as I know McDonough RV is out of the TM business.
