Default Thetford Curve

Hello all fellow TM owners,

This is my first question post, but have been a member for almost a year. I just want to say thank heavens for this site because I would be "lost among the flock" if not for it. I have sat on here for hours and have learned more than I ever thought imaginable. Thank you to each and every one of you for priceless information. Ok, now for my question. I pulled out the lovely recirculating toilet and installed a Curve with riser and lock down plate. Last time I had to empty it, it was pouring down rain in Myrtle Beach (lovely Spring Break week) and am wondering if anyone out there has modified this setup to be able to pour black tank contents into existing plumbing, so you won't get soaked in case of bad weather outside? I have way too much time on my hands working 3rd shift, so I am always thinking of things to do to my TM. Thanks again and await all replies.......... Jay

Hi Jay
The problem with that solution is that the only holding tank is the grey water tank, which is not an option. A portable black tank would be an option; however to stay out of the weather, you would have to pour out the contents from your Curve into your portable holding tank inside your TM.

My suggestion is, get a good raincoat

Is it possible to connect a portable tank under the trailer to the dump valve and just leave the dump valve open when parked? Will this work with the original Thetford ? The OM talks about an "optional holding tank" but is a little vague about how. Is the "termination valve" the one under the coach ?

I don't think that would work too well. The Curve is designed to be dumped into a toilet and when you do it that way it works great. You rest it on the edge of the bowl, swing to the dump tube downward into the bowl and press the little button that lets the air into the tank. It all comes out pretty quick.

At a dump station it doesn't work as well. You sort of have to "aim" that tube into the dump station opening while managing the weight of the tank. I always spill some.

At a dump station a little spillage doesn't matter. Most of them have hoses you can use to clean up any mess. Inside the camper it matters a lot.

Hey all,

What I want to do is be able to pull top of toilet from bottom and dump into recirculating toilets existing drain pipe in floor. I don't want to add a black tank, just don't want to get soaked if I have to go outside to do it. I had no problem emptying into sewer pipe at site, since it does go real smooth with the pressing of the air relief valve. It will be one heck of a mess if I do spill it inside so that raincoat might have to be ordered!!!! Thanks for the replies, Jay

If you took your Thetford out and left the waste line in the floor, you might want to read this:

MisterP,

Oh trust me, I have read your posts many times before attempting to change it out!! Mine doesn't seem to be loose, as when I tried to move it after taking out the recirculating toilet, it was pretty sturdy. Thanks for the posts and I'm sure I'll have to secure it sooner or later........
