Default Axle Flip

Hi everyone. I about to enjoy my 2009 3023 for the season. Has anyone flipped the axle to gain more ground clearance? Is there another and/or better way to gain some more room under the trailer?

Thanks. Happy camping season everyone. .

Mike -

I have no idea if you can flip the axle, but since it is probably welded on, it sounds like a pain.

If you would like to get more clearance under the body of the trailer, keeping the axle as it is now, look around this Forum (Frame sub-forum) looking for posts on LIFT KIT. This is a reasonably simple way to lift the trailer body 3 inches above the axle.

Start by checking out this entry in the Trailmanor Technical Library.

If you flip the axle the spindles would be pointed upward into the wheel wells and the trailer would be laying on its belly.

I think you’re referring to moving an axle from above leaf springs to below? TMs don’t have leaf springs (apparently they did waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay way way back in the olden times).

But like Bill said, lots of folks have added a lift kit. HOWEVER… TM now uses a Lippert axle that mounts differently compared to the Dexter axle that was used for over 20 years. I don’t know if their current lift kit will work on older TMs? But they do have as large as 5” or 7” now (used on the 2518).
