Default TM2720 2" Lift Kit pros and cons

Actively seeking our dream TM to buy, and we're going to see a 2006 TM2720 in a few weeks where seller reports he had to replace discharge piping after a tire blowout and subsequently installed a 2" lift kit. Any opinions/experience out there with the good and bad of adding a lift kit?

I installed mine on a 2007. After installation I found I probably did not really need it for the 15 inch tires I changed to.

I did find that the bolts were slightly loose after the first 1,000 miles. I added threadlocker Blue and re-tightened. At 2,000 they were still tight. If I had the ability I would have tack welded them to prevent loosening or movement.

Second, I had to move my hitch up to keep the trailer reasonable level.

I did like the additional clearance on poor driveway approaches and rough campsite roads.

We installed 2 inch lift on our 2003, but kept using 14" tires. We needed a rise for our driveway. The rear stabilizer would scrap the side walk.

Default 2" lift on 2720

I installed the 2" blocks on mine after a blowout with 14" tires that were less than 2 years old. I bought the largest new 15" tires I could fit after the lift. No blowouts since. I've done all I can to avoid another blowout and that gives me some peace of mind.

I think overall you will like the lift, just search 'lift' or '15 inch tires' and you'll find a ton of write-ups. Pro are: more clearance that enable larger tires with safer/higher weight capacities, ability to head down a few more Forest Service roads (cautiously), and less revolutions on your tires & bearings (less heat build-up). Cons are: front step and top of camper raises approx. 2.5" (0.5" from tires and 2" from lift), a bit more wind resistance, center of gravity raised slightly, need to raise hitch. I'm sure this is not all inclusive, but a good place to start. Hope this helps!

We have a 2006 2720 also. Our's was was made early in 2006 and did not have a lift kit. I think there was change during that year and models made later in the year already have the lift kit.

Does that Tango come with an elevator? Many people would get winded climbing all the way up to that!

More clearance for going in and out of driveways (gas stations etc) without dragging. If (God forbid) you do have a flat, you can change the tire without having to pop-up to get the wheel off.

As mentioned, it adds to total height so may have issues getting it under your garage door. Measure carefully but most people are able to adjust the garage door higher if need be.

This is what the lift kit looks like. Just a 11" piece of square steel tube.
