Default E (10 ply) Rated tires

I see some people (including WmTire) are using ST225/75R15E rated tires, not the normal D (8 ply) rated. And I believe they are running them at 65 psi, not the max 80psi (although Carlisle says not to do this with their tires).

Have any of these tires had a blow out?

Wondering whether I should go this route next time around. There seem to be so many blow-out stories popping up, even with the 15" tires.

Looking around online for E rated ST225/75R15 tires, I've found Loadstar radials (EasternMarine), Power King Towmax (TireRack), Carlisle Radial Trail (Discount Tire) and Maxxis M8008 ST Radial (Discount Tire).

Maxxis is the most expensive but seems to have a good reputation on this board?

I'm using the Carlisle "E" rated tires with the max air pressure. Pulled the TM thousands of miles the last two years and all is well. The only issue is road bouncing some of the storage items in the TM with the max pressure.

Guess this is why others have dropped the pressure to 65.

I would agree with that. I pulled it to a campground earlier this year and when I opened it at the destination, I found one of the cabinet hinges had pulled out of the wood frame. Could not figure out why, then saw a post here that referred to too much air pressure would bounce things around inside.

Make sure your tires are balanced.

We have about 2k miles on our E load range tires. We set the pressure at 80 psi per the maker and WmTire. After noticing slight over inflation indication we have dropped it to 75 psi and will continue to monitor.

What brand are yours, Carlisle? Any shaking/rattling problems at 75-80psi?

Bruce they are Duran some kinda of cheap made in china tire. They were balanced and we haven't noted any shaking/vibration problems over the Marathons at 65 PSI
