Default 15" rims and Maxxis tires

Since our 2619 TM’s tires are now about 6 yrs old we are thinking of upgrading to 15” rims with Maxxis M8008 ST Radial BS ST225/75R-15’s which have a “D” load range rating. The Maxxis tires were recommended by a friend, and I’d like to get feedback on their performance from anyone who has used them. Particularly any word on tire failures with Maxxis tires, or troubles with going to 15” rims. We already have a 2” lift kit on our TM so I am not anticipating any clearance problems with going to 15” rims.

Default Maxxis

I mounted ST226/R75x15. They are either D or E load range. My 2008 2720 has the newer Dexter axle instead of the risers. Recommended by tire dealer. Installed in March. So far, no problems.

Default Maxxis tires

I have bought 10 Maxxis tires for a total of 3 trailers and have not had any problem with any of them. On my 3124KB I am using the ST225/75R15 with load range E. They don't look like they are low on air like the load range D that came on the trailer. I run them with 70 PSI.

Don't know a thing about Maxxis tires but the 15" rims will be an improvement since they will allow a larger tire. I believe that equally as important as tire size is to get rid of the rubber valve stems if you have them. Be sure to go with metal stems. We upgraded to the Goodyear Marathon 15" tires and run them at about 60lbs. pressure. I don't want the tires so firm that they beat up the trailer. Seems to work just fine and really has helped my peace of mind...

Default marathon tires

I have a 2004 Trailmanor, and in June I replace my 14 inch with new rim and the 15 inch Goodyear Marathon. I also added the lift kit that you can get from Trailmanor. I made sure the date on the tires where made with in this year. If you don't understand how to do read the date, make the salesperson read the date to you. In July we left South Florida and drove out west thought mountains, rain, heat, a total of 4000 miles. I kept the air presure at 60 lbs. I had no problem with the tires and they never felt hot. Make sure you use metal steins on the tires. Also check the 15 inch rims weight load (I don't remember at this moment the weight). The weight is stamped on the rim. I believe that Trailmanor is now putting 15 tires on all new trailers. I did keep the 14 tire for a spare. It can be used if you get a flat to get to a tire center. If you do put new rims on the trailer make sure for the first 600 miles your stop every 200 miles to check the lug nuts. I read that they could come loose when new. But still good to check them before every trip. I would recommend this setup to anyone.
