Default Just greased the bearings

Just greased our bearings for the first time and took the TM for a drive. We have the EZ lube system.
Noticed some grease coming out of the cap. Is that normal? It only happened on one side.

Ours did this too, but last time I lubed the bearings I bought a new cap, and it stopped.

I think it was a tiny bit bent from taking it on and off. It always did this, even on our way home from buying it. I had asked the dealer to lube the bearings for us.

Ours is rubber and had a little split in it. I will replace them both now. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't an indication of something bad.
Thanks!

Ours has that rubber insert too, but I think it was the metal cap that sticks out (that the rubber insert fits into) that was bent. That's what I replaced. You could try the rubber insert and see it that helps.

The only thing behind our rubber cap is the fitting that the grease goes into. Is that what you're describing?

The first time I greased mine, it started throwing A LOT of grease all over the wheel, and I admit I panicked.

When you did the greasing, did you remove the sheet metal bearing cap? If not (it is hard to remove), then did you THOROUGHLY clean out all the old grease that piled up behind it as you injected the new grease? In my case, I had cleaned out some of the old grease, but not thoroughly. I believe what happened is that a bit more grease worked its way out as I was driving, and the bearing cap filled up and overflowed. Since then I have cleaned out the cap very thoroughly, and haven't had the "problem" again.

The thread linked below covers it. There used to be pictures, but they seem to be gone now. And the old YABB links don't work any more, of course.

hmmm. DH took off the rubber cap and there was the metal nipple so he stuck the grease gun inthere and pumped til it started to back out from the same area.
There was no metal cap...I don't think

You have to be careful to seat the groves in the rubber cap in the lip of the metal cap. The part that tries to cut you if you stick your finger inside the metal cap to get at the left over old grease!
