Default walk on the roof?

Hello from the Tampa area with my new to me 2922KB, I would like to know if I can walk on the roof of the TM when it is open? What if I want to do some caulking up there or install a solar panel... will it support my weight without damaging anything? Must I say how much I weigh? Well my sister weighs 158 lbs. and she wants to know, too...

Thanks,
Trudy

I am 6' 2" and further north of 200 than I like to admit. I get on the roof of mine from time to time.

I have a couple of planks that I use, a 2X6 about 4 feet long. It spreads my weight out.

I think you'll fiind that you don't need to "walk around" on the top of the trailer. You need to get to a particular thing and work on it. I actually do most of my work while standing on a ladder and reaching over to what I need to get to.

I live in Sun City Center, and hello neighbor. Yes I have walked on mine several times with no problem. I put down plywood panels to distribute the weight.

The best solution is to glue ( don't nail or staple) an old piece of carpet to one side of a 3X3 or 4X4 ft piece of plywood. Put it carpet side down on the roof and you should have no problem. If at all possible, try to do the project with the roof TM closed. The supports might support your weight, but getting up and down or moving around on an edge might strain and damage the lift mechanism.

We also go the plywood route.

I weight 150 lbs and have walked on the roof, but never with the TM open. I have never found the need to. I leave it closed when I want to work on the front shell. I open the front shell only when I want to work on the rear shell.

A carpeted piece of plywood is a good way to spread your weight out. I use a foam pad for my knees.

I've walked on mine both open and closed. Weight per se is not the problem, but if you do not put some kind of padding or boards down you will put small dents in the roof where your weight is concentrated. I found even with my knee I could leave a small impression.

Thank you to all for your replies about walking on the roof. Excellent suggestions. And hello to Tampajohn, I have been watching your posts. BTW, I live in Riverview so we really are neighbors! Nice to have company...
